The North Carolina Baseball Academy College Prospect Baseball Program was started in the fall of 2003 and was designed to help accelerate and prepare the areas of top baseball talent for the college game. North Carolina Baseball Academy will now expand this program to a summer and fall program with the same goals and objectives.

North Carolina Baseball Academy has chosen to name its most advanced program the “Golden Spikes” for what it represents. The Golden Spikes Award is given annually to the top amateur baseball player in the country. The Golden Spikes program is by Invitation Only and is the most comprehensive and complete program for the advanced player looking to enhance his skills and athletic performance. This program is 100% about player development with weekly practice and training sessions that make this the only program of its kind in the state of North Carolina.

 

 

The focus and goals of the program are multi faceted. First, the goal is to improve the prospects individual position skills through proven on the field practice regimens, drill work and quality repetitions. Second is to improve athletic performance by training to improve the athletic performance by training to improve the athletes speed, agility and strength. Third is exposure to the next level of college coaches and major league scouts. Our program will compete in top notch “showcase” tournaments against the finest competition in the NC, SC, VA and GA regions where top prospects are evaluated.The coaching staff is headlined by Scott Bankhead, a former Major League Player. Scott’s experience and success at the Major College level and the Major League level is what separates this program from any other. Scott truly knows what it takes for all young athletes to be successful on and off the playing field.
